The gardens are set around Kinlochlaich House, having been laid out about 1790 by John Campbell of Lochend. They incorporate a fine octagonal walled garden, informal plantings, spring garden and bluebell woodland walk. The Garden Plant Centre commenced in 1976 and has developed over the years to offer one of the largest range of plants in Scotland. It must be one of the very few centres which uses a walled garden in which to demonstrate and display plants.
The aim continues to be one of offering the best selection of garden plants, with sound horticultural knowledge and with specimens established around the grounds, displaying maturity and habit. New additions are sought continually and plants are trialled for suitability.
